Potty Training a Dog: How to Do it easily

by Donald Travolta

Potty training a dog is one of the main obligations of every dog owner. Every house should be kept clean and hygienic at all times and this can’t be achieved if there are feces and urine of dogs in any area of the house.

If you think that potty training a dog is not an easy task to fulfill, you will be amazed to find out that there are some steps that can make it easier. You will soon uncover that following these steps can turn your home into a clean one. At the same time, it is also the key to avoid repetitive cleaning dog’s messy poop and pee. This is very applicable if you have puppies at home.

Potty training a dog should be started while the dog is still young. Allot a particular area outside the home as a voiding spot for the dog. After you have considered where that permanent spot should be; always take the dog to that spot whenever he needs to void. Do this always until the dog becomes familiar to that special spot intended to be her voiding spot.

For you to be able to take him to the spot, you should be watchful on the dog’s action indicative that he needs to poop or pee. This signal signs are essential to take account of when potty training a dog. Once you notice that he unceasingly sniffs the floor or seems to be restless walking to and fro, try to take the dog to his “voiding spot.” When he voids, then you have to remember that action as a signal that the dog needs to poop or pee.

If you have achieved the first two steps, it is now time to instruct the dog with the proper command when he needs to void. Once you have established and identified the indicative sign for voiding that your dog exhibits often; try to be consistent on the command phrase that you will instruct him with upon observing the indicative signs for voiding. If you have decided to use the command phrase, “Go out and poop/pee” you have to use this over and over again, Inconsistency will be confusing to the dog and may lead to failure in proper potty training.

When potty training your dog, you as the dog owner or trainer should be patient enough until you achieve the results you wanted to see. Never shout or show any signs that you are frustrated with the dog whenever he fails to comply with your instructions. At times when he poops or pees inside the house keep your temper and just clean the mess and keep on with the task of potty training your dog. The dog will eventually learn later on.

Dogs like humans also have feelings. They also love to hear praises for a job well done. Remember to commend your dog whenever he poops or pees in the proper spot. This is another essential tip when potty training a dog.

Following these sensible tips and guidelines you will soon find out that potty training a dog can be fun and easy too. Discover more ways in raising a well-behaved dog by reading my blog.
