Make the Potty Practice Easy For Your Child!

by Lucy Peters

Your kid is growing and it’s time to start leaving the diapers. The potty training must be a smooth and positive process since it’s a very sensitive moment for children. That’s the time when they begin the transition from babies to toddlers.

Parent’s role is to support the child on a time when they strive for independence. They are in the moment of setting up their individuality and start to try independent actions. However, they still need parent’s assistance very much. In what concerns to potty training motivational words ad encouragement are far more effective than simply pushing. Here are some methods to incentivize your kid on this matter:

* More toy-like the potty is, more attractive it will be for your kid. A fun potty chair placed in the bathroom will tease the toddler’s curiosity and make him want to explore it. Reading stories when he is sat on it will assist on making him feel comfortable with the potty and become ready to move ahead.

*Empty the dirty diapers into the potty telling the child the potty is the place where the poop should go. Kids usually find it funny to flush the toilet and you can use this moment to make up a nice story to explain where the poop goes after flushed.

*Tell tales about using the potty to your toddler before and during the potty training. There is a great range of educational books available which works out this subject. If he starts to make question, give him sincere answers.

* Praise. Let your child know he is doing right when he uses the potty, and you are proud of him. However, don’t exaggerate otherwise your kid may start to feel pressured and avoid the potty scared of disappointing you.

*Be positive if an accident happens, telling him it happens to anyone, and that he will do it in the potty next time.

*Motivate him giving little rewards like golden star stickers, candies or extra TV time every time he uses the potty well.

*You will have also to show them it’s time to change the diapers for underwear. A good way to make them get used to the idea is to let them pick the underwear they like on a store and tell they will only wear it when they are using the potty regularly. Once progresses are made, just let them wear it as they are likely to not want to get them dirty and rushing to the bathroom when they need to use the potty.

Don’t get frustrated if it takes a bit of time to your child to learn to use the potty. The key to a smooth potty training is to make it the less intimidating for the child by supporting and praising. Positive attitude will help you and your child to pass easily for this moment of teaching and learning about independence.
