Stylish baby carriers have become the latest fashion must-haves for new mom and dads. Celebrities like Brad and Gwen are using them to carry their babes around town.
Baby has become a new (and beautiful) fashion accessory. There are many types and styles to choose from, including slings, wraps and back frame carriers. And they are created as much for style as they are for comfort and convenience.
They are becoming more and more popular - and for good reason. We have listed five main reasons why people love them - and love to wear them…
1. Freedom. Looking after a baby is full-time work. But a busy mom and dad know that there are other things to do as well. Carriers ‘free up’ your hands allowing you to wear your baby (keeping them close to you) and give you the freedom to do other things as well.
2. Comfort. Baby carriers are comfortable for both the baby and for the parent carrying the child. Once you get used to wearing the carrier and see how comfortable they are to wear for you and your baby you will probably wear your carrier a fair bit. Today’s modern carriers are ultra comfortable since they are designed to distribute weight across the shoulders and back of the person doing the carrying which greatly enhances the comfort.
3. Long period of use. Since a carrier can be used for a toddler (great on day-long adventures to the zoo) and they can also be used for newborns (depending on the type of carrier) people can get a long period of use from their carrier.
4. Soothing to baby. It’s a well known fact that babies love to be held - holding them increases their contentment - and the more content the less they tend to cry. Carriers (especially sling and wrap styles) are built for holding baby close to you. It feels good for baby and it also feels good for you!
5. Easy to breastfeed. With a baby carrier breastfeeding a baby can be done anywhere. Wrap carriers, in particular have a large amount of material in the ‘pouch’ where you hold the baby. This provides mom and baby with privacy during feeding and it also means that the baby without being taken out of the carrier can be moved from one side to the other.
If you are a celebrity-watcher - and now a days who isn’t then you’ll know that movie stars, athletes and others of the famous set are wearing their babies in baby carriers. People are wearing the carriers because they look good - but more importantly because they are so practical and comfortable.
Moms and even more and more so now - dads are getting in on the fun, comfort and happiness of ‘wearing their baby’.
