Natural Rapid Weight Loss?

by Lewis Phillips

Natural weight loss is a big subject today for many people who do not understand the principle of eating only the amount they need for the amount of physical activity they perform; although, not many people listen to this. This is not as simple as it seems even though the concept is easy to comprehend; however, currently 35 percent of Americans are unable to prevent being overweight! The conflicting aspect is that a large percentage of overweight people are desperately trying to lose those pounds whether it is because they are tired of the looks they receive or for health reasons.

The hard thing for people to understand is that it is easier to maintain your natural weight than lose extra pounds once you have put them on. Even though many people know this subconsciously very few actually plan to ensure that weight gain doesn’t happen to them.

It has been shown that even when overweight people enjoy eating low calorie foods, the majority become bored and end up putting the weight back on because they slip back into previous ways. The simple fact is this; the longer you ignore natural weight loss programs and stay overweight, the more likely you are to have health problems.

The importance of maintaining the correct weight is more than just for looks, especially as the number of health problems related to weight and obesity grows. The basics of eating correctly while maintaining a healthy weight is not all that complicated, in fact most people know pretty well what is best and that is losing weight naturally.

A reasonable approach to natural weight loss is to stick to a diet that is high in complex carbohydrates and fiber, moderate in protein, and low in fat. You have probably had a meal like this in a restaurant; a baked or jacket potato with fresh vegetables and some meat, as lean as possible but not with gravy or butter on the potato.

The problem is calories from dietary fat can be high and have a tendency to be retained by the body, which is something that doesn’t happen when excess calories are consumed with other foods. Another problem is the obsession with fat free or low fat foods that food manufacturers are stacking the shelves with, which despite their popularity are not stopping the problem of obesity.

What people fail to understand is that it isn’t just fat in their food that is making them put on weight, it’s the quantity of food they consume and the caloric content of it. Where this goes wrong is with overweight people who think that if it’s fat free, they can eat more of it instead of eating a healthy snack.

Some health care specialists believe that a good method is to eat smaller meals and healthy, nutritious snacks every 3 or 4 hours. Natural weight loss and body maintenance is a way of living, something we all did rather successfully not that long ago; it is not a craze that can be forgotten about when the next one comes along.
