Eat several ( 5 to 6 ) small meals a day rather than waiting long periods and having larger meals. The reason for this is that by eating regularly you will keep your metabolism consistently active. Having long periods between meals will have a negative effect because the metabolism will slow down to save energy as it senses that you are been starved.
Your metabolism is the rate at which your body turns calories into usable energy - the calories from food you eat, and from the stored fat in your body. Most dieters don’t realize that they need to EAT to burn their fat reserves. Your body will turn into a hoarder if you’re not eating enough to burn fat.
Eat breakfast, a snack, lunch, a snack, dinner and followed by a snack an hour before going to bed. Constantly having food in your system does not allow your metabolism to slow down.
Cut back on all sugary foods, this includes sugar in your coffee. Sugar drastically slows down your metabolism. Sleep at least 7 hours at night. A good night’s sleep and a well rested body will boost your metabolism for the entire day.
While some low fat foods are good, make sure you don’t fall for the “LOW FAT” labels some companies put on their products. You need calories to boost your metabolism, however, make sure they come from the “right” place, not from hamburgers, fries other unhealthy foods.
