The Real Cause Behind That Ringing in Your Ears

by Bryan Alan

Ringing in your ears is most commonly thought to be a result of listen to loud music or other similar type activity. The ringing in ears experienced by many people is distracting and sometimes debilitating. However, did you know something as simple as stress is a leading cause of ringing in ears?

The most common type of tinnitus is called subjective tinnitus. This is where the ringing in your ears is only audible to you. Subjective tinnitus affects tens of millions of people each year. The other type, objective tinnitus, is where your doctor can hear the ringing in your ears using medical equipment. Objective tinnitus can be the sign of more serious problems, however, its occurrence is rare.

Subjective tinnitus can have many causes related to stress and high blood pressure. While stress and high blood pressure seemingly go hand in hand, reducing the stress levels and your blood pressure will release the pressure on your blood flow that can cause ringing in your ears.

An important step to reducing your stress levels and blood pressure can be losing weight, eating better and exercising more. It is no secret that exercise and diet can help reduce overall stress levels and lower your blood pressure. Understanding your own condition and making appropriate adjustments to diet and exercise can go a long way in controlling tinnitus.

For people who suffer from tinnitus who also are smokers, the cause is not just coincidence. High blood pressure and stress levels are common in smokers. By stopping smoking, tinnitus suffers can reduce the impact and even start to prevent occurrences of tinnitus by lowering blood pressure and stress levels.

There are many other causes of tinnitus as well, including the loud music or head injury causes that are more commonly thought of. However, it is possible your tinnitus and ringing in your ears is caused by simple stress and other controllable factors. Make a commitment to start making changes to your stress levels, and your tinnitus may change as well.
