The 3 Biggest Mistakes You Can Make Losing Weight

by Roland du Preez

Gaining weight is not difficult for most people to do. As Jake La Matta in “Ragging Bull”, Robert DeNiro gained over fifty pounds. You almost don’t recognize him in the movie because of all the extra weight, what’s more is that he found it very difficult to lose the weight once he put it on.

Losing weight should be as easy as gaining it. It’s a nice thought anyway. It is a simple matter of reducing the calories you consume to lose those extra pounds or is it?

1. Commitment

You have to be fully committed on any weight loss program. You have to follow through with whatever diet plan you choose.

Often, healthy diet plans are created on a formula of certain foods that start a weight loss action. It is not just restricting calories, but a combination. These plans must be adhered to for them to work effectively.

It’s your commitment to lose weight that will ultimately affect you weight loss. If you are not firmly committed to your weight loss plan, then eventually you will be cheating on your diet. This is a huge mistake for obvious reasons.

You are not going to lose weight if you cheat. You are only cheating on yourself if you cheat on your diet; also, once your determination has been broker, you are not on your goal path anymore. Commitment comes from deep inside and needs to be an earnest desire from deep within yourself. Trying to lose weight for someone else spells doom from the word go, weight loss can only be done for yourself.

2. Importance of Support

You must have emotional support of others, this is the main reason why people stay committed, because they have somebody supporting and encouraging them. Join a forum if you have to, find others that will support you.

3. Going to the Extreme

Being committed to your weight loss diet is admirable. But it would be a mistake to go over this edge by overdoing it. Push too hard and you might cause more harm than good. Then you are right back where you started.

Most people fail when trying a starvation diet, its not health, so don’t starve yourself or you will end up at square one.

If your diet includes exercise, take it slowly, don’t overdo it. Exercise is excellent, but work up to jogging for ten miles, because your body will not be used to it.

Take the time to mentally prepare for your weight loss plan. Choose the right diet for you and be committed to your task at hand. Stay optimistic about this and realize that this will take some time to see the new you. Become inspired!

If you have not prepared yourself mentally as yet, do so now, before starting.
