Yeast Infection and Yogurt - Pros and Cons

by Linda Allen

Will eating yogurt help victims of yeast infection to limit this painful and weakening medical problem? The answer to this question is not straightforward. Although no food element has been shown to beat yeast infection in itself, many medical studies indicate a surprising connection between eating different types of yogurt daily and limiting yeast infection.

Yeast infection is the result of different types of Candida fungus that live in any case in the body. It is for this reason that yeast infection is also called candidiasis or Candida infection. In a healthy person the beneficial bacteria in the guts and a strong immune system will keep the candida in check. But if these factors are compromised, Candida can over grow without limits, get into the blood circulation and then travel all over the body. Symptoms of candidiasis are then all too evident.

It is the destruction of this inner equilibrium from either the death of friendly bacteria or the debilitation of the immune capabilities that allows Candida bacteria to run amok. Many internal and external factors contribute to this problem.

It has been suggested by different medical research that yogurt, which contains friendly bacteria also known as probiotics, may in fact improve the immune system capability and help it to combat yeast infections. Certain types of yogurt contain the probiotic microorganism as such as Lactobacillus acidophilus which then aid the healthy bacteria in the lining of the intestine where required. Recent data indicates that eating 8 ounces of yogurt per day that contain Lactobacillus acidophilus can significantly contribute to resisting Candida microorganism invasion.

Note that when yogurt is made from cow’s milk that is non organic, it may have several undesirable features. The reason is for the antibiotics which are injected into cows and therefore get into the cow’s milk. These antibiotics destroy good bacteria in your intestines. In addition cow’s milk products were meant for calves and not for humans and are therefore less easy to digest. When available use organic goats and sheep’s milk which are better adapted to fighting yeast infections.

Organic yogurt which is free from added sugar can alleviate candidiasis symptoms, although excessive intake of such dairy products may have a negative effect on your medical condition. The reason for this is the heavy mucus that such milk products encourage along with allergies and the stimulation of Candida overgrowth.

Candidiasis is a complex phenomenon and can be brought on by a number of different factors. Therefore yogurts or any other food elements will not in themselves replace the necessary full treatment of this issue. Adding such probiotic foods to your food plan is good, but only the first step of a complete holistic solution.

Did you hear that there is now a comprehensive therapy which is all-natural and holistic and that can permanently cure and prevent yeast infections? In dealing with all the factors contributing to Candida, you can regain natural intestinal equilibrium, kill off excess Candida and be free forever from yeast infection.
