There are no unique tricks to meditating; no unique position or breathing rhythm is necessary. Once you have gotten the knack of it you are able to meditate in any location during any activity. Some readers have been successful in obtaining this altered state of consciousness as they were reading about my sand meditation, perhaps you too may become aware of this transformational state of consciousness as you continue to read
Occasionally meditation brings light to the mysteries of design. If we permit ourselves to enter into this door there is no telling what we may encounter on the other side. Do not let yourself be put off if you have attempted to meditate in the past and not gotten a great outcome. Meditation is a fantastical process and it may take some time to figure out how to quiet your mind and open yourself to all the current moment has to offer you.
My meditation started as I was sitting on a beach. My hands were sandy. I rubbed my thumb and forefinger together feeling the grains of sand between them slipping away until only a single granule of sand was left. I could make out the composition of the granule of sand clearly as I rolled it back and forth between my fingers.
The longer I rolled the granule of sand around the more distinct my sense of the granule of sand became. The more defined my experience of the granule of sand became; the larger it seemed to be. As I was able to easily feel the tiny granule of sand held captive between my thumb and fingers roll about across the creases and ridges of my fingerprints the granule of sand seemed to be growing larger and larger as I contemplated it.
The grain of sand continued to grow, encompassing the beach and then the world. Before long the grain of sand had increased to an immeasurable size and it now surrounded all of the design; yet I still possessed the tiny grain of sand between my fingers, rolling it about across the creases and ridges of my fingerprints.
The tiny granule of sand was intimately connected to all of the design and all of the design dwelled within it, even as it dwelled within my grasp. I communed with the granule of sand, aware of its infinite attachment to all else; through the medium of the granule of sand I became conscious of my own infinite attachment with all of the design.
The sand communicated to me of eternity. It told me tales about the design and the infinite nature of our being in the design. From the granule of sand I was taught that every tiniest part of the design is a living creature experiencing the design and sharing in the process whereby the design makes everything appear.
My meditation with a grain of sand always produced a feeling of intense joy. It was an eternal meditation that transcended the time and place where it started to continue throughout all of the design. On occasion I would come back to this meditation, engrossed by the wisdom and experience of a single tiny grain of sand.
