Although there are far worse, far more deadly skin conditions than acne, it is still such a major problem to millions of people. In fact, acne has become such a problem that many people have come to believe that acne can only be cured by elaborate, complicated and expensive procedures and products. But really, the best acne cures are quite simple.
The most effective acne treatment is actually a little modification of your hygiene habits. Most importantly, keep your skin clean. Wash your skin when you wake up in the morning, and again before you sleep at night. Now, this may not work for some people and they may further this simple technique in order to get rid of their acne, like washing their face more times than twice a day. Or using the newest exfoliating products and new formula toners.
On the other hand unnecessary washing of the face with capable products will not improve the situation either. Repeated washing of the skin might just worsen the condition you are trying to treat or prevent by washing away the essential oils on your skin thus drying it out. Dry skin will produce oil to protect it and so it creates a vicious cycle. Remember that many exfoliating products usually contain bits and pieces of various plant seeds which will also help to rub away oil and protection on your skin that can leave it to dry.
Most people don’t realize that acne is caused by the clogging of the pores by a combination of sebum or oil and dead skin cells. It is aggravated by bacteria, stress and other conditions such as lack of sleep and improper nutrition. Instead, people assume that dirt is the number one cause of acne and just scrub away indiscriminately. More often than not, however, washing up upon waking and before going to bed will have a better effect on your skin. Chances are, if you’re already washing your face only twice a day and you still have acne, you’re probably doing something else to aggravate the problem.
For example, your environment may not be clean enough. Given that your pores are clogged and easily irritably, sleeping on dirty, bacteria-laden sheets and pillows may cultivate more acne overnight. Also, when you sweat in your dusty habitat, your open pores will trap bacteria mixed with your sweat and cause back pimples, among other inconvenient places.
Poor nutrition is another potential culprit. The debate is still on whether oily food actually causes acne but on the other hand there is enough scientific proof that creating foods do contribute to the aggravation of acne. Drinking lots of clean water could be the most effective acne treatment as it has been shown to help rid the body of hazardous and toxic substances.
Another enemy is stress and that is aggravated by bad nutrition, unhealthy lifestyle and lack of sleep. It has not been proven that stress causes acne but it has been proven that a good night’s sleep every night works wonders for your skin.
Other than the ideas discussed above it is also known that the use of natural products such as Vitamins A and E, zinc, Aloe Vera and Tea Tree oil provide some of the best acne cures available. Don’t forget that face wash twice a day!
