The slow cooker works by applying a round about heating method. The cooking vessel actually sits within a ceramic shell that has heating elements at the bottom and sides. This provides an even heating experience and is perfect for meals such as stews.

Slow cookers are also advantageous because of their time requirement. A meal that takes 8 to 12 hours to cook is in synchronicity with the lives of most people. You can fire up the cooker before leaving for work and have the food ready when you get home.

Slow cookers have to other advantages that fit our hectic lifestyles. First, they are very safe. You can leave them on all day without any problems or fire scares. Second, they use little energy even when on for 10 hours or more.

What can you cook with slow cookers? Just about anything. There are even pan accessories for breads. Soups, stews and the like are obviously some of the best, but the vast number of recipes make just about everything an option.
