Gothic Corset: Medieval Corsets of the Modern World

by Dark Sith

Are you fascinated with the mysterious culture of goth? Perhaps a Gothic corset might pique your interest. It is a type of corset top that has a function very different from a traditional corset. A corset’s purpose to lift breasts and reduce waistlines have nothing to do with its Gothic counterpart. Instead, a Gothic corset is just about individualism. It is a fashion symbol that resembles a traditional corset.

A traditional corset is made by a corsetry tailor, wherein the tailor takes all the measurements of the wearer.

Similar to a traditional corset, Gothic corsets are often made by corsetry tailors. They are very keen on the measurements of the wearer and make sure the corset fits to a tee. Today, many stores specialize in Gothic outfits, including corsets. There are corsets for every type of body, from the very petite lady to a plus sized woman. Some personalized corsets have boning so the body looks even sexier, but those manufactured commercially are made in general sizes.

Gothic corsets can come in the form of corset dresses. These dresses usually have slits on its sides which go as high as above the knees or thighs and are usually made of silk or satin. Normally there are chiffons on the breast area to make the breasts look fuller.

Though you might look old-fashioned and gloomy in a Gothic corset, many will still find you attractive and seductive as long as you carry it with style and confidence.
