Your Computer’s CD Burner

by Computer Geek

Years ago if you wanted to own a band’s CD, you had to buy it in a record store or purchase it online and with the cost around $10, it adds up. If you were like me, you couldn’t afford to buy all the CD’s you wanted so you just waited for them to be played on the radio.

Then came those file sharing sites like Napster that could get you all those songs you wanted and it didn’t cost you a thing. You just downloaded it to your hard drive and transferred the songs to an MP3 player.

Since most cars have a CD player, you may have wanted to transfer your downloaded files to a CD. This is when a CD burner came in handy. Just about every computer has one now.

A CD burner can come in two forms, external and internal. The external ones don?t even need to be connected to your CPU and you only need a USB port to connect it to your computer. The internal CD burner that most people may be familiar with is connected to you CPU and lives inside your computer tower.

A nice thing about a CD burner is you can burn songs from one CD to another or burn songs off of your hard drive.

For a CD burner to work, you need software to run it. Most computers will come with software like Windows Media Player but if you want good quality software, you can buy Nero or Roxio which burns just the same as your free Windows Media player but they just offer more options and flexibility.

If you just can’t afford to spend money on software for your burner, you still have a few good options when it comes to the free software. Two better free options to look for are Deep Burner or ISO Recorder.

You might think a CD burner is only capable of copying the songs you downloaded but you can also copy other files. You can just as easily burn other files, videos, mp3s, pictures, etc. Just think how we ever managed to live without this great technology.
