Features Of A Poker Chip Set

by Thom Riemersma

There is a wide selection of poker chips sets around. You have a choice of chips, dealer buttons, cards, and case. It all depends on your personal choice and needs.

So what does a poker chips set consist of? Basically it should have 2 decks of cards, a dealer button, 5 dice and a case. The case you choose will depend on whether you are taking your set to different places or just keeping it at home.

If you are going to keep your poker set at home why not go all out and buy a classy looking show case for your poker chips set. It can fit right in with the rest of your furniture. You can get one made of beautiful mahogany with a polished glass top, complete with little draws for all your poker game accessories. Of course you are going to have to pay out for clay chips if you have this type of showcase because it is no good having low class chips in a beautiful poker case. But think about it what a wonderful conversation piece amongst your poker friends!

However, if you’re planning on taking your chips from one home game to the next, then you’ll need a high quality carrying case. Fortunately, most poker chip sets come with just such a case. In this instance, you have a choice between aluminum or wood. Every once and a while you’ll see a set encased in clear plastic, but wood and aluminum are by far the most used materials.

A wood carrying case will look beautiful when new. However over time it will show wear and tear and loose its luster. Aluminum is definitely more hard-wearing.

Aluminum can take a beating and still endure. Even when it gets a few bumps it is still not too expensive to replace than a classy looking wood case.

Poker chip sets are a must for any serious poker player. Before you choose which set to buy, consider whether or not you’ll be carrying your set with your or leaving it at your house. After that, you can choose the type of chips and cards that you want your set to have.
