The building of traffic

by Zindy Maseko

When it comes to building a home-based business, it’s important to learn how to build traffic to your website. Most people leave a fortune on the table when they build a new website because they make the mistake of only targeting the most generic, hard to rank well for keywords and then wonder why they don’t have any traffic.

If you have any fantastic ideas and marketing strategies for your online businesses, always keep in mind that the core purpose for applying all these strategies is to increase your website traffic and hence online profits; otherwise, this isn’t marketing anymore. Website traffic is considered the life-blood of your online marketing.

On the other hand banners often drive a bit of traffic to your website, but it is often not real traffic, or people that have intentionally come to your website. They are just attracted by the nice flashy image they are looking at.

Backlinks is the most important thing when owing a website. And one of the best ways to get one-way, relevant backlinks is by submitting your site to directories, which is usually a free service, but some directories do charge a nominal fee. If your submission is accepted by the directory, then a link to your website will be published on a page that is only about fishing, thereby giving you a great one-way and relevant backlink.

With exchanging links with other sites, both of you will benefit from the both parties’ efforts to enhance your sites’ web site traffic. One way to get a link is to write an article on reciprocal links and inform your readers that you will be exchanging links, leave your email address and the topics of your pages and you won’t have to spend enormous amounts of time looking for links to increase your web-site traffic.

Plus by submitting an article to an article directory you allowing other site uses to use your information, but they must only use original articles and at all times they must retain the authors resource box. However, many internet marketers rush to write and submit their articles to article databases and are disappointed with the results that they achieve for the effort they spent writing them just because they did not give them self’s to research on what people want to read. So don’t make this mistake.

It might make you feel good to have tons of general traffic at first, but you could take much less highly targeted traffic and triple (or more) whatever a general traffic site could make with the same product or service. If your product is selling something or generating leads around cactus gardening, you are going to generate more sales from less traffic than if you simply grab any traffic from the engines on generic words like “gardening. But you should know that marketing is an ongoing task that must be performed to increase traffic, to get people through your web site and in the long run increase sales.

While free advertising sounds good and if you can get good quality traffic to your site with free advertising, then it’s a good way to go. I have tried just about everything for traffic, and writing and publishing articles has been the most consistent form of quality traffic.
