Not All Internet Home Business Opportunities Are Legitimate

by David Gates

Internet home business opportunitiesare they legitimate? It is a question asked often, as people are looking for ways to be their own bosses and break free from employers. Internet based home businesses can be the way to do this, if you know what you are doing.

So, Internet home business opportunitiesare they legitimate? Or, are they simply scams to get your money? Unfortunately, most of these offers are scams. In a recent government study of Internet based business opportunities, 81% of the offers that were tried were found to be fraudulent. That is an astonishing number which leaves more room for error than for success.

The sad reality of today’s world is that there are a lot of people out there who are willing to con innocent people into believing lies that lead to scamming their money from them. A general rule of thumb is that old adage: if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

But how do you distinguish between the scam sites and the legitimate sites? This is the first in a series of potholes on your way to becoming a home-business owner. But, though the road can be hard to traverse, with a little direction you can find your way to your goal without going off course.

There are several ways to examine if a site is a scam. One is to type the site into a search engine along with the word “scam”. If there have been victims of a scam site, you can bet people have shared there experience online. There are several sites that exist for the sole purpose of reporting scams. Find these sites and bookmark them for easy access. When you are not familiar with a site, go check out what others have to say about it.

Don’t make the assumption that all is well if you cannot find any information on the site in question. It might be a new site or its victims haven’t reported anything yet. Don’t let yourself be the first one. Inspect every opportunity closely before joining. Most scam sites look different yet run the same scam. The trick is to learn the clues and you will be able to spot these right away.

Legitimate sites will always have a help section, working links, current and detailed information and personal support. A scam site will most likely not have any of these. If the site does not have any or all of these there is immediate cause for concern and the site should be avoided.

Stop the scammers from collecting money from people searching for Internet business opportunities by informing them of what you have learned. Now that you know how to spot these scam sites, you will know what to say when people ask “Are Internet home business opportunities legitimate?
